Who We AreThe spirit of preservation in Wayne has always been strong The Wayne Historical Preservation Society built on the foundation of preservationists Jane Dunham, Tannisse Blatchford, Arnold Bisbee, Nancy Jackson, Noonie Barton, Jane Schroeder and some of the early residents who truly cared for their Village.
WHPS is dedicated to building community relationships through preservation, education and activities based on its history Our mission is twofold: to collect and protect historical material of those who are and were a part of our community and to promote and encourage community relationships, raising a next generation of rooted and involved citizens.
We would like to think of ourselves as an historical conscience—a reminder to respect the community that we are a part of by preserving its integrity, and an encourager of good stewardship of this community that we have received from those who came before. All that we have does not truly “belong” to us; we will someday be gone and, through the Preservation Society, will have left a legacy for the next generation. Our non-for-profit status and tax filings are available for public viewing at GuideStar.
